Harvest
I never thought I would plant stuff myself, growing up in the cement jungle, having a few pieces of window of greenery is a luxury pleasure. I like to go to the park though, love to play on the lawn when I was little. One of my uncle has a house in the country side, about an hour away from the city where I lived, mom used to take me to their house during summer holiday, I spent a week or two there with them.
There was a guava tree growing so big that the branches wrap around the balcony on the second floor. All I had to do was to walk out to the balcony and grasp a guava from the tree, they were hanging all over the place, it was a wonderful sighting.
I planted many trees, shrubs and special tropical bamboo in the garden during last 6 years. I did not know it takes so much strength to chop the "bamboo shoot" out from the ground until I chop one last year. I felt like I was wrestling with the gigantic bamboo which is now over 25 foot tall. It is edible after blanching. It is something special about eating the food you planted yourself, felt so pure.
One of my friend from Philippine gave me a blackberry bush, I planted it last year and I had blackberry shooting out from the bottom of every branch 2 months ago. Lucky for the birds but not for me, they are always one step faster than me to pick the ripen blackberry. I know it was the birds who eat my blackberry because they poop on my mailbox and the color is purple during those harvest weeks!!!
Look at the mango tree in the photo, it has been 3 years and this is the first time it produces fruit. Thai is great with green mango salad. The reason why Thai makes them because it produces an enzymes in your digestive system, suppose to cleasnse your body from the inside. It is a very common diet for thai ladies who is looking to shed some weight. And this enzymes only exists in green mango / green papaya, does not exist in ripen ones.

I like the idea of "just be", but for 40 hours, you must be joking! And are you REALLY going to just be yourself, no hyperactivity????
ReplyDeleteI made a green mango salad with mangoes from that tree. Pretty delicious if I may say so myself.
As for the fish, they'll be well looked after, provided of course that my singing doesn't kill them.
Diana and I did our first day of coaching with the kids. It was a blast. And there may actually be some talent amongst em. THis morning we're going ahead of time to play the par 3 course which neither of us has ever done.
Oh, and my team of boys won the chipping contest, go figure! Perhaps I should just stick to teaching...
Love that you'll be staying in touch
Be well
