Good to Go!

People always ask me: "How did you survive such a long flight?"

Well the key is simple, just be. This trip from West Palm Beach to Huahin Thailand is well almost 40 hours. We would have to get to the airport 2 hours before departure, fly 2 hours to Charlotte, North Carolina, wait 5 hours there and fly 8 hours to Paris, then wait 6.5 hours to hop on a flight for 11 hours to Bangkok. Claim our luggage and go through Customs for about an hour, a driver is waiting at the gate to pick us up to drive 2.5 hour from Bangkok to Huahin, where our destination of this trip.

Sounds crazy isn't it?! The fact is not too bad, don't you sleep for 8 hours everyday?! It'd be alright if we can sleep on the plane, by the time we arrive to Huahin, we will be able to adjust to their time zone, would have minimal jetlag throughout the afternoon.

The art of just "be" is easy, bring a book, treat the airport benches as your beach chair; Go look around the duty free shops in various airports, note I say "look" not "shop", things in thailand is so cheap it doesn't pay to buy anything at the airport except wine / liquor / cigar. These are considered luxury items and they are heavily taxed in Thailand, a bottle of wine cost US$20 here will cost US$50 there because tax is 150%. Cuban cigar stores are almost in every major hotels in Thailand, it's illegal here in United States but totally common overseas in Asia.

We are lucky to book this 2 bedroom suite at the Sheraton Blue Lagoon resort for a month, it is located right on the beach and 6 miles away from downtown Huahin. They have the longest pool built in Thailand, the way they constructed the pool is like a river running through all the individual 3 level buildings (suites); we would live on the second & third floor and everyone access the pool from their ground floor. Literally we could jump from our second floor into the pool to swim around the whole resort compound, sounds like fun!

Ok we are all good to go! We have 3 checked bags includes 2 golf bags, 1 big shared bag of Vic and my stuffs, 2 hand-carry luggage of our own stuffs and Vic would hand-carry the laptop, I would hand-carry my big travel purse filled with food to munch along, so excited! I also put a duffer bag into my golf bag just in case if I shop too much..... could be expanded to another checked bag!
